Brow Lift

The brows provide the framework and emphasize the eyes. The right shape of the brow can make one look younger and more alert and much time and effort is spent on tweezing and shaping of the eyebrows. As the brow begins to change positions and droop it can lead to expression changes, making you appear angry, tired or sad. Reversing the signs of aging is essential, whether it be to just look the way you feel, or to stay competitive with the younger workforce.

Non-surgical Options/Cosmetic injections

The effects of time and aging emerge as the skin becomes etched with fine lines and wrinkles. A non-surgical option to gently smooth your forehead lines is through neuromodulator injections such as Botox, Dysport, Xeomin and Juveau. These neuromodulators are injections that act upon temporarily disable the muscles of contraction, which relaxes the corresponding fine lines on the skin surface. Softening the fine lines in these areas create the appearance of a more raised brow, with the result lasting approximately 3 months before you gradually return to your former appearance.

Forehead lift

As the brow continues to descend, the heaviness will contribute to a more aged appearance. Depending on the area that needs lifting, a brow lift or forehead lift can address and diminish forehead and crow’s-feet lines, revitalize a drooping forehead and target lateral hooding that might be occurring in the upper lid area. The brow lift procedure may be combined with other operations such as blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), microfat transfer and facelifts to improve the look of the eyes and rejuvenate the overall face.

Am I a candidate?

How will I look after? Try standing in front of a mirror and placing the palms of your hands to the sides of your eyes above the eyebrows, then pull the skin up from the eyes, raising the your forehead. This maneuver will give you an idea of what the results of what brow lift surgery can do for you.

There are a variety of procedures that elevate the brow area, Dr Edween performs a range of various different brow lift procedures ranging from the minimally invasive endoscopic to the traditional (open) coronal brow lift. Dr. Edween evaluates your anatomy and amount of lift needed to raise the brow area will determine which procedure best fits you.

Endoscopic

Lifting the brow through an endoscope is advantageous in that it allows your muscle and tissue to be elevated without having a large open incision. Approximately 4-5 small pencil like incisions are made within your hairline, and once healed the scars are well hidden within your hair and virtually undetectable. An endoscope, a special surgical tool that has a video camera at the end, is inserted through the small incision to allow access with specialized instruments to lift the skin and release and adjust the muscles. The incisions are closed with staples and removed in about 10 days.

Coronal Brow Lift

A low forehead, or heavy deep sagging forehead may be best addressed with a coronal brow lift, for the maximum uplift to the brow. A coronal (headphone-shaped) incision is placed behind the hairline, spanning between the ears and across the top of the forehead. To minimize visibility the incision may be placed further back on the head for those with thinning hair or bald. Then the forehead skin is lifted, muscles adjusted, excess skin is trimmed and the incision is closed with stitches or staples.

Limited Incision Brow Lift

All brows are not created equal, and brow lifts can be customized to address the specific area that is drooping. Your brow lifts will be designed to take in account your hairline and specific area that needs to be lifted. Asymmetry between the brows can also be corrected with these procedures.

Temporal Brow lift

An incision is placed in the lateral temporal area hidden within the hairline to provide a more lateral pull to the brow. For instance, if elevation of the lateral 1/3 or tail of the brow is necessary then a small incision is made within the temporal hairline to specifically target and lift the anatomical area.

Direct Brow lift

The incision is placed directly above the brow and hidden within a natural skin crease.
